I’ve never challenged myself to read because, quite frankly, it’s not a challenge. I’m a voracious reader. However, as seen in my Goals & Resolutions for 2011, I want to read more. Here are the challenges I’ve officially signed up for:
The Heroine’s Bookshelf Reading Challenge – Little Women, The Long Winter, the Claudine novels, The Secret Garden, and Jane Eyre top the list; however, my copy of The Heroine’s Bookshelf is in transit from Amazon so I will have a more complete plan as soon as I have it in my hands.
Chunkster Challenge – Most excited to have discovered this challenge thanks to an article from Salon. The definition of a Chunkster: 450 pages or more of ADULT literature (fiction or nonfiction). I read some pretty hefty books, so I feel it wouldn’t be too difficult to complete the Chubby Chunkster (4 Chunksters in 12 months). For that very reason, I’m going for The Plump Primer (6 Chunksters in 12 months). As to the only reading non-eBooks – that’s easy for me (see previous post). The best part – I have many chunksters on my to-be-read list. More to come on this, too.
While I haven’t officially signed up for a TBR challenge, it’s still something I’m trying to take care of. If a book doesn’t have a rating in my LibraryThing catalog, it’s most likely because I haven’t read it (thus it’s in my TBR pile because I own the darn thing). I’m hoping to take care of at least 25 of them (and also assuming that I read 100 books in 2011). The Pulitzer Project is also wrapped up in this – I’m hoping to read at least 1-5 Pulitzer Prize winning novels this year…and it will be a challenge.
