Olympic Readathon: Progress Report

We’re about a third of the way through the Olympic Readathon hosted by Retreat — the blog for Random House of Canada. So far, I feel good about my progress. I’m not a third of the way through my 2000 pages, but I’m kind of close!

Finished: 371 pages

  • The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty — Posts & Pics: #1, #2#3, #4#5

In Progress:

  • 112 pages into…Other People We Married by Emma Straub — Pics: #1, #2
  • 90 pages into…How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran — Pics: #1, #2

Coming Up: 1,427 pages

  • Among Others by Jo Walton
  • Rules of Civility by Amor Towles

Side note…I kind of understand why bookstores are struggling. I went to two different B&N (the closest bookstores to me…like 3 miles away from each other) and neither had Among Others — which I wanted to buy so I could write in it — OR Monkey Mind by Daniel Smith — also so I can write in it. If I go into a bookstore and they don’t have it…well…I leave. If they don’t have it at that moment, I’m just going to go home and try to find it somewhere else for less money (which is usually Amazon). It’s just so disappointing that an award winning book and a brand new nonfiction book that was mentioned on NPR aren’t available.

Lame.
